I’m Back!
Welp, I’m back and just in time for the battle. As most of you know, I was diagnosed with stage 3c Colorectal Cancer (CRC) back in July of 2017. By August of 2018 I had finally beaten cancer and was declared cancer FREE (NED).
BUT…..not so fast, what I didn’t know was that it had spread to my lungs and had sat dormant until a few months ago when the small 3mm spot that was too small to biopsy before had begun to grow at a couple mm per month and so I finally got in to have it biopsied and of course, it came back as cancerous.
They did a DNA workup on the tumor and it came back as a perfect match to the tumor they yanked out of my colon back in 2017. So…I was reclassified as a stage 4 (terminal) colorectal cancer patient. But, terminal doesn’t mean I’m gonna die tomorrow….well, unless I get hit by a bus or something. LoL
I fully expect to beat cancer again and now that i have lung cancer, I was moved to the front of the list and my surgery to remove the tumor was scheduled for the end of December (2020) but that was not to be.
The one thing the surgeon said to me was, don’t get sick! So, what did I do? I went and got covid-19 and had to quarantine for 14 days and then my wife and father also got covid and Teresa got pneumonia on top of covid so, the whole house was in lock-down mode until the first week of January.
So my surgery was canceled and I was told that the whole house needs to be healthy, I have to get all new scans, new labs and, and, test negative for covid again and then they’ll reschedule the surgery.
Then, my job went bye-bye and I lost my insurance. I then got cobra setup and well, everything has been a nightmare of sign ups and forms and phone calls and web portals and…..whatever. So…..Let’s DO this already!
Anyway, today I am still trying to get signed up with social security disability so I can get setup with medicare / medicaid and whatnot. At least my tumor has been a slow growth animal and hasn’t yet spread all over the place.
However, I have begun losing weight again and have gone from 185 to 175 to 160 to 150 and now I am skin and bones as the wife says. So, hopefully I can get in for surgery sometime in February and depending on what the clean up post-surgical chemo / radiation treatments look like, that as well.
I haven’t done any podcasts as of late (post 2019) so, sorry about that. I will however, begin those again real soon as well as some YouTube vids (VoDs) and get back to a consistent schedule with those now that I am gonna have to go through this whole cancer thing all over again.
Anywho, thanks SO much for all your LOVE and support these last couple of months and, I look forward to seeing y’all again real soon (online, via email, website blogs, LIVE streams and YouTube vids) so, take care and stay safe…..it’s a crazy world out there. See Ya! -JR
